Product description

Fescon Rock paint FRP Cave paint is a cement-bonded spray paint with a very low spreading rate (0.5–0.8 kg/m2) and excellent covering properties. Suitable for spray painting shotcrete and concrete surfaces to increase lightness in tunnels, caves and parking facilities. The rock paint creates a finished and highly reflective surface with just one application. Standard colour is white, other colours available according to the Fescon colour chart.

Rock paint FRP Cave paint does not form an impermeable film over the surface that would affect the breathability of the structure; instead, it allows water to permeate the structure, making it easy to detect possible leaks. The product is polymer-modified, eliminating the need for separate adhesives. The rock paint has excellent strength and adhesion properties in humid and underground conditions. The rock paint has good maintenance properties, as the surface treatment can withstand high-pressure cleaning and mild detergents.

Reaction to fire A2-s1, d0, grain size 0.1 mm, adhesion strength > 1.5 MPa. Minimum delivery 3 pallets of small sacks.

Base

  • Shotcrete surface or concrete base
  • The temperature of the base should be +5°C..+25°C.
  • The base must be clean, dust-free, solid and firmly fixed in place.
  • Loose layers, cement paste and other impurities should be mechanically removed in order to ensure the proper adhesion of product to the base.

Priming

  • No priming required in normal, humid tunnel conditions.
  • In sites with a very dry and absorbent base, wet the base with water the day before application.
  • Liquid adhesion primers are not used.

Mixing and placement

  • The work site must be thoroughly protected against draught, free water and excess heat.
  • During spraying and curing, the temperature should be kept between +5°C and +25°C.
  • A bag (20 kg) of the product is mixed with approx. 14.0 litres of cold water. When pumping, the amount of water should be equal to approximately 70% of the weight of the dry product. The amount of water in the product is correct when the paint does not run on the surface to be painted.
  • The amount of water must be in accordance with the instructions on the product card. Deviating from the instructed amount of water will cause the paint to run on the surface. It will also significantly prolong the drying time.
  • The product is carefully mixed into a smooth and fluid paint.
  • The product is sprayed with a suitable plaster gun and spread into a smooth layer on the surface to be treated. The desired layer thickness is achieved in one application.
  • The working time is approximately 2 h from water addition.
  • Wash all tools with water immediately after finishing the work
  • The dried product is removed mechanically.

  • The work must be performed in accordance with the infraRYL instructions.
