Base requirements and coating conditions
The strength class of the concrete must be at least C25/30 and the wear resistance class 3. The relative humidity of the concrete must be below 95% and the surface temperature must be at least +3⁰C above dewpoint. During the drying of the coating, the temperature of the ambient air, the surface and the coating must be over +15⁰C and relative humidity must be below 80%.
New concrete floor
Laitance and any uncured cement are removed by either surface grinding or shot blasting. All loose material that could negatively affect adhesion is removed, and cement dust is carefully vacuum-cleaned.
Old concrete floor
Laitance and damaged concrete are removed by grinding or shot blasting. All loose material that could negatively affect adhesion is removed, and the base is carefully vacuum-cleaned. Dirty floors should be washed and rinsed with synthetic detergent before performing any other base treatment work. Any old coat is removed completely.
Patching work
Small cavities and cracks are cleaned and filled with e.g. epoxy paste mixed from Nanten HM Bio and fine back sand. Larger and wider overfills, straightening and slopes can be made with a compound made of HM Bio and back sand (0.1–0.6 mm).
Mixing
Pre-mix Nanten HM Bio Part A and F Primer Part B separately in their original containers. Estimate the required amount of mixed material based on the size of the area to be treated and the pot life of the mixture. Combine the components in the correct ratio and mix with a low-speed mixer for approximately two minutes, avoiding air entrapment in the mixture.
Mixing ratio
HM Part A: 10 parts by volume
F Primer Part B: 2.5 parts by volume
Spreading rate
Depending on the porosity of the concrete, 0.25–0.35 l/m². Porous surfaces may require a second application to ensure all pores are sealed and a uniform, continuous film is achieved.
Application instructions
The mixed F Primer should be poured onto the floor in a continuous ribbon and spread evenly using a rubber squeegee and/or roller. If necessary, apply a second coat after approximately 3–5 hours, but no later than 24 hours after the initial priming. If a trowel-applied coating will be used, broadcast adhesion sand onto the fresh primer to improve the workability of the topping. Ensure proper ventilation in the working area. The primer must seal all pores in the concrete and form a tight, uniform, and continuous film on the surface. Do not scrape or use the remaining material from the container walls onto the floor.
